Poland is an European country on the Baltic Sea known for its medieval architecture, Jewish heritage and hearty cuisine. It is a unitary state divided into 16 administrative subdivisions. The Kingdom of Poland was founded in 1025, and in 1569 it cemented a longstanding political association with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania by signing the Union of Lublin. Today, Poland is a country with a rich and eventful history, colourful heritage reflected in the variety of monuments from different periods and very varied landscape.
